Francisco Medina (Career and Legacy)

Francisco Ángel “Cisco” Medina Colón led Ezra Cruz’s personal security detail and later became Head of Security for the Fifth Bar Collective. His work joined individual artist protection with staffing, travel preparation, venue coordination, emergency response, and the development of procedures that could remain effective as Ezra’s risks and the surrounding organization changed.

Marisol Cruz hired Francisco around 2028 to lead Ezra’s security. He managed the detail rather than serving only as a single bodyguard, coordinating personnel, advance planning, travel, venues, local security, and the expectations governing direct contact with Ezra.

Francisco’s security protocol documented behavioral patterns, medical risks, and operating expectations for the team. The protocol treated artist protection as an ongoing relationship requiring judgment and consistency, not merely physical intervention during public threats.

Berlin Crisis and Restructuring

Francisco was in New York rather than on duty when Ezra experienced a near-fatal overdose while touring in Berlin in early 2035. He participated in the response from New York and in the review that followed.

The detail was subsequently restructured. Jared Dawkins and Manuel Torres joined the reconstituted team in August 2035 under Francisco’s leadership. The changes expanded the team’s ability to manage touring, medical risk, privacy, and continuity after a crisis that exposed the cost of inadequate coverage.

Francisco later became Head of Security for the Fifth Bar Collective. His responsibilities expanded from one artist’s personal detail to campus safety and artist protection across the organization. Professional Relationships

Francisco and Ezra developed a close chosen-family relationship through years of travel, crisis response, and daily coordination. The relationship did not erase the professional authority and responsibility attached to Francisco’s role.
